Destiny, Does it control us?

Destiny is something that may or may not exist. There is no justification that it exists , only perhaps the words of psychics and people who try to tell the future. Winnie and i were discussing the possibility of destiny in our class and found that we do believe in some sort of destiny. At first we were skeptical of such a thing, but then realized that we both believe that things happen for a reason and that "reason" would definitely turn out to be our destiny. If destiny exists do we truly have any control over our lives? Or does God or some higher power guide us without us knowing? I believe that we all have free will but that perhaps we have many possible destinies. We may choose whichever way we wish to go. There is no justifications for any of these thoughts , we may only exist to simply exist.
